Yes, we have a structured internal young leaders' group at G&F Financial Group. If yes, a couple of questions:
How many do you have?
We have one Young Leaders Group called IGNITE.
We plan events that are both in person, and through webinar. The topics are about Leadership, presentation skills, networking and business development. The goal is to help individuals to develop their skills and learn more about the leadership.
How do young leaders new to the credit union get included?
We have prepared a presentation which we use in our training bootcamps where members of the executive board of IGNITE present to the new hires of G&F.
How do you see it evolving in the future?
IGNITE has been and will continue to help its members to grow, develop and advance in their careers. Annually we see improvements in the amount and quality of our events, and the number of attendees. In regards to evolution, we hope to be a liaison that G&F can use in growing our millennial memberships and employees through a millennial perspective. It is our hope to become an integral part of the executive decisions as a leading voice of the prospective future of the company with the leaders developed.
We have approximately 50 members.
There are various levels in our organization that participate from entry level staff to VP level.
Our focus this year is on the quality and breadth of our events. A lot of work has gone into creating this successful initiative and we are focused on listening to our members to refine the offering that was built.
Our next steps involve engaging other young leader program and inviting in a perspective from other institution as well as foster a stronger professional network for our members.
Hi Russel and Dina,Great and timely information for me as well. Early in my career I was a part of our Saskatchewan provincial young leaders executive and have seen the benefits first hand. I'm now starting to develop some criteria for our CU and putting together a proposal for our own young leaders group. If you have any documentation or anything that you'd be prepared to share I'd be really interested in any ideas that you have.As far as age, I think we'd likely gear the program toward employees under 40. Previously, the provincial program here was for employees aged 35 and under and that has now been raised to under 40. Activities put on provincially include an annual retreat focused on a different leadership focus each year. I believe last year's was self awareness.With around 100 staff total and approximately 35 who'd fit the young leaders category, we don't have a huge group but feel that it's important to build these future employees.Thanks,
