    Good Morning Everyone,

     

    We're wrestling with an issue related to account opening/loan pre-approvals for our members as it relates to the online application that is completed within MeridianLink, our partner for online account and loan applications.

     

    It appears that unless a member has recently applied for a loan or already opened an account online, the member has to fill out all of the information as if they're a new member. It seems that MeridianLink doesn't "recognize" existing members until far into the application process.

     

    We're wondering how we can go about pre-filling this information for a member so that it's not so time consuming to complete. MeridianLink ties into Symitar, our core processor, but it doesn't appear to be a two-way "conversation", in that info from MeridianLink gets imported into Symitar, but information is not pulled from Symitar to go into MeridianLink.

     

    Anyone have both Symitar and MeridianLink experience? If so, how have you been able to address this issue so that member info can be pre-filled within an online account/loan application?

     

    Existing members are wondering why they have to fill-in their name, address, SSN, phone #, email, place of employment, etc. when we should be able to pull this information from our existing records after the member has "verified" who they are.

    Hi Debbie,

    I checked with the application support team here at Salal CU about this since we use ML and Episys. Here was the answer - I hope it is useful to you:

    It's true that MeridianLink will not import and prefill any PII from Episys when a current member begins an online application. However, if a member has applied online previously from the MeridianLink consumer portal (either accounts or loans), then MeridianLink will prefill most of the PII based on previous applications upon matching the credentials previously established, as noted in this communication.

    This is a security measure – if someone had obtained our member's account number or SSN and began an online application using fresh credentials, we would not want MeridianLink to provide the rest of that information to the applicant without verification. PreciseID authentication does not occur until later in the process, when the member is ready to submit the application. The member does create credentials upon beginning the process, however, it was decided as a part of the Online Account Opening project not to require any verification of email addresses used as member user IDs.

    If the member could access XpressAccounts or LoansPQ via SSO from within online banking after having logged in, for example, then MeridianLink would be able to import data from Episys if that interface was established. We did not enable this option with NetTeller when we implemented online account opening. I understood this was to be part of the conversation around updating the current MeridianLink consumer site to their updated Application Portal.

    Hi Skott,

     

    Thank you so much for responding to my post.

     

    I've forwarded your reply to those who are more closely involved with the functionality of MeridianLink.

     

    We use Access Softek as our online banking provider. It sounds like some level of integration must be missing between these two systems, especially since our members are already verifying their identity when they successfully log into online banking.

     

    I appreciate your insight to help us resolve this issue.
