Office 365 and the cloud

Hello!  We are a small credit union considering moving over to Office 365.  Do any of you use cloud based Outlook/Office 365?  Just trying to see if it's the way the financial industry is moving or if we should continue to host our exchange servers in house.

Sara, we are a 500 Million dollar credit union and just made the switch to O365 hosted.  It was not an easy decision for us as we are kind of control freaks!

Ultimately, given all the technology demands placed by business units and by members, we decided to treat this as a commodity and let Microsoft Host it as they do for thousands of others. This allows us to put my IT resources to more value-added projects than trying to keep up on an exchange email server.

We contracted with a local IT services firm to help with the migration, which was quite beneficial.

If you'd like to discuss this more, let me know.

We switched as well.  I would encourage you use an MSP or partner to help in the migration and watch all of your security pieces.

    Thanks,

We are also a small credit union that is considering the move to Office 365 at least for the email hosting. Right now I am trying to find a consultant that will assist in moving email accounts from current host. As we replace our current crop of PCs with their stand alone versions of Office will probably move to the subscription based model. I have been dreading this for years but its clear that is the direction Microsoft is taking things.

My challenge is finding a consultant that is willing to do this at a reasonable cost and not try to tie me into a long-term revenue stream for their company.

We made the change to O365 for hosted email and subscription licensing. BIG jump and completely worth it for the reasons mentioned by several above.

We too used a consultant to help us off our legacy non-Microsoft email platform. We partner with them to help us manage licensing too.

I encourage a security risk analysis be done.
