Questions on Background Checks for Employees

  • 1.  Questions on Background Checks for Employees

    I am looking for some insight into performing background checks for new employees:

    Do you have Criminal Background Checks performed for all new hires?
    Is there a particular third party provider that has been successful with these or do they typically go through local law enforcement?
    How in-depth are your background checks?

    Any help and advice would be very much appreciated!!

    Bethany, we use a service that checks the criminal history after extending the offer (conditional on the credit check and background check).  They go back 7 years and also look at driver license history and court records.  Hope that helps

    Bethany:  We have been using a third party- Sterling- for several years.  They have a multitude of different levels of checks that you can set up.  We do them on all new hires.  If you would like more details, I can have my HR Generalist visit with you when she returns from vacation next week.
