    Good Morning,

For those of you who have an employee(2) strictly devoted to business development, can you tell me what types of events and activities they are involved in?  In addition to community events and activities, do they make "sales calls" to area businesses, etc.?

So basically what I am asking for is a "day in the life of business development" breakdown.

    Thanks so much,

Our Business Development Specialist put this 'Day in the Life' together:

A day in the life includes:

    • Attending networking events
      • Weekly BNI, Chamber meetings, HR networking events, community council meetings, wedding events, not for profit events
    • Sponsoring events so that our marketing materials can be included in swag bags
      • Community, not for profit events- things that align with our goals towards focusing on the community and people
    • Building real relationships with stakeholders in partner companies
      • Not just selling, but really developing a true relationship and bond with our champions
      • Following up at a minimum monthly with partner groups
    • Building strategic partnerships with individuals and companies
      • Creating reciprocal relationships where business can be referred both ways
      • Asking how you can help them
      • Find new companies/partnerships through networking partners
      • You can cold call, but make sure you stress the value of what you provide when asking for a meeting
    • Teaching financial wellness
      • Getting in front of individuals at partner companies to teach important financial concepts through seminars
      • Telling people about our online learning modules
      • Providing real value and commitment to the financial wellness of members and prospective members
    • Being willing to make a time commitment to individuals and making them know their value
      • Sitting down with anyone to discuss their goals
      • Making sure people know I'm an advocate for them
      • I pass out my cell number to most people I meet so they can call or text me if necessary
    • Trying to create a fun, approachable environment during interactions
      • Fun events and games
      • Being willing to share experiences
      • Having a fun attitude with everyone to make sure they know that finances do not have to be intimidating
    • HSA development
      • Working with brokers and HR representatives to adopt our HSA accounts
    • Being passionate
      • Love what you do and having the ability help people be in a better position than when they first met you

Hope this helps. She does visit businesses, events, and does a lot of networking!
