    Hello everyone,

A member has reached out regarding Supervisory Committee Term Limits - this member has asked to remain anonymous. The question is:

I would appreciate getting information about what other CUs are doing regarding term limits for Supervisory Committee members and board member selection process, i.e., from the Supervisory Committee or membership.

Anyone who is willing to share their policices on term limits would be helpful,

    Thank you!

    Hi Laura,
Unfortunately, we do not have term limits.  Supervisory committee members serve 3 year terms and Board members serve 4.  There's not an appetite for term limits at this time.

We have never had term limits for either the Supervisory Committee or the Board.  There's no limit to the number of times members can be reelected.

As a State-chartered CU, all volunteers are elected by the membership, and we use a Nominating committee to evaluate an applicant's qualifications.

We have never had term limits for Supervisory Committee or the Board.  It is too hard to find volunteers so we hate to lose them but certainly can be a problem if you get a bad apple on the board.  We utilize a nominating committee to try to avoid getting a board members that may have misguided intentions or an agenda.

I have worked for 6 different credit unions ranging from $70M to over a billion in 4 states. None of these credit unions had term limits for supervisory or board members.
